Copy from libraries

This help page explains in detail how to copy questions from libraries onto tests. There are a few features to make this process more powerful and time-saving which are explained below.

First, if you have not already done so, open the test you want to add questions to in the Test Editor with the Questions tab displayed.

Press the Add questions from libraries button. A panel will open to the left of the Drag-And-Drop Content Arranger Panel showing any libraries you have loaded (available in the libraries list on the libraries tab).

Clicking on the little crosses to the left will expand the selection.

Select either individual questions or whole book or an entire library or all libraries by checking (ticking) the checkboxes. Note that the questions are grouped into the books in the library which makes them easier to work with. The books can be expanded to show each question individually. Question names are shown in the tree or the first 24 characters of the question text if no name has been specified. Hover over the question name to read the full question.

How the questions are copied from books to pages depends on if you enter values into the Random pick qty or Questions per page fields and these are described below. For normal purposes enter Questions per page: 1.

Straight copy from libraries to test

For a straight copy of the selected questions to the test do not enter anything into the Random pick qty or Questions per page fields. To add the selected questions to the test just click the Copy selected to the Test button. New pages containing the selected questions will be added to the test. The questions will be grouped together in pages just as in the library books.

Random copy from libraries to test

The random pick fields (Random pick qty and Questions per page) can be used to randomly select some or all of the ticked questions/books and you can also choose how many to put on each page. Please note that to choose all ticked (checked) questions in a library then enter your required Qty per page setting and leave the Random pick qty blank. Click the Copy selected to the Test button to copy the required amount of questions to the test.

When you have finished adding questions from libraries click the Close this button to close the panel.

If you want the questions to be dynamic from a pool of questions at run-time then see the random pages page. However, if you choose to enter a value in the Questions per page field and it is greater than 1 then the pages generated will be random pages.
